Rebbetzin Riddle: Who Is Moshiach?

Moshiach (the Messiah) is a human being, born of human parents. According to the great sage Maimonides, he is a descendant of King David who is immersed in the Torah, performs all the commandments, and leads the Jewish people back to Judaism. If we see such a person, we may assume that he is the Moshiach. If he succeeds in rebuilding the Holy Temple on its site and brings the Jewish people back to the Land of Israel, then he is surely the Moshiach.

Moshiach is both a king and a prophet. He will teach all nations the ways of peace, and they will lay down their weapons forever. Indeed, Rabbi Nachman of Breslov predicted that "Moshiach will conquer the world without a gunshot."

Even the animals will be spiritually elevated and stop preying upon each other. As the prophet Isaiah states, "The wolf will lie down with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the kid goat; the calf, the young lion, and the fattened ox will flock together, and a young child will lead them... The knowledge of G-d will fill the earth as the water covers the sea."
